The Icam Grand Paris Sud site is taking part in the Tiers-lieu UGECAM Ile-de-France project, launched in 2023, on the methodology, evaluation and acceptability of new technologies by patients and carers. Two students are currently working on testing a connected treadmill.

Last year, as part of the France 2030 strategy, UGECAM Ile-de-France, a health insurance organization, was chosen to set up a Third-Party Center for digital experimentation in healthcare, in partnership with companies and with the support of a consortium of partners : IMT, Icam, INES and Forum des Living Labs.

The aim ? To test innovative digital solutions in UGECAM Ile-de-France’s health and medico-social establishments, working with patients and their carers to promote their rehabilitation.

Several teacher-researchers from Icam’s Grand Paris Sud site, specializing in human sciences and health engineering, are fully involved in this experiment, along with 5th-year students, as part of their scientific and industrial dissertation (MSI). They are all working on the methodology, evaluation and acceptability of these new solutions in the various centers, as part of UGECAM’s digital transformation.

The first project, currently underway, is a connected treadmill for rehabilitation. Developed by the company Ezygain, this innovative tool is being evaluated by two students, supervised by Maurice Houeha, project manager at Pôle Service aux Entreprises, and Paul-Eric Dossou, teacher-researcher.

We created an application to analyze all patient responses to the questionnaire, which was developed last year by another Icam student, Emile. And we defined validation criteria in terms of acceptability and ethics, as well as technical reliability”, explains Flavien Taylor. “Our aim is to assess the adaptability of this tool. Whether or not it is acceptable to UGECAM. That’s why we’re also conducting interviews with patients and caregivers,” adds Abel Daniel Shalom Kelack. This series of interviews will also be carried out in the middle of the project and at the end to provide a complete analysis.

Several solutions will be developed and tested until the end of the UGECAM Third-Party Experimental Site project in 2026.
