Coming soon: Manila!
International
15 Sep 2022
Icam is currently building a specific partnership with Ateneo University, in Manila (Philippines). The ambition of the project is to create a new international campus, to propose the Parcours Ouvert, one of Icam’s courses, that can be compared to a “bachelor” in 6 years, with all the classes made simultaneously in 4 countries. The Parcours Ouvert is already proposed in Recife (Brazil), Quito (Equator), and Douala (Cameroon).
A delegation from Ateneo came to Icam, in Nantes and Grand Paris Sud campuses, during the week of September, 5th. This delegation was composed of Raphael Guerrero, head of the Science and Engineering Science department in Manila, and Benjamin Tolosa, educational manager. This visit helped them to discover, in detail, how the Parcours Ouvert operates.
A long-standing collaboration
Ateneo has been an active partner of Icam, for 22 years. The university welcomes Icam students, for their master thesis projects, and sends students to France, for academic exchange programs (summer program, semesters abroad, etc.) Furthermore, some Ateneo teachers already work in France, in the context of the Parcours Ouvert.
Created in 1859, Ateneo is one of the best universities in his country, according to international rankings. The Philippines archipelago, populated by almost 110 million inhabitants, is growing constantly, with a rise in the population of foreign students. Concerned by a strong population increase and facing the challenges of climate change, Manila could offer our engineering students a unique and strategic opportunity.
