“Cordées de la Réussite” : The Grand Paris Sud site gets involved !

4 Feb 2025

For the fourth consecutive year, the teams and students of the Grand Paris Sud campus, acting as “Tête de Cordées”, participated in the National Cordées de la Réussite Week, held from February 3 to 8, 2025. Throughout the year, numerous initiatives are also organized for middle and high school students from underprivileged backgrounds. The goal: to make guidance support a true lever for equal opportunities.

As a reminder, the “Cordées de la Réussite” program aims to inspire students’ academic ambition, combat self-censorship, and promote greater social equity in access to higher education programs. How? Through continuous support for students from 8th grade (classe de 4e) to their final year of high school, particularly targeting those in priority education areas, urban priority zones, rural and isolated areas, as well as students in vocational and technological high schools.

With this National Week of “Cordées de la Réussite,” the goal is to highlight the efforts of those involved and encourage others to join the initiative.

The Icam, involved since 2021 with two middle schools and one high school

The Icam Grand Paris Sud site has been actively involved in this program for four years, in partnership with three nearby schools: Saint-Louis Middle School in Lieusaint, Wallon Middle School in Savigny-le-Temple, and Pierre Mendès France High School in Savigny-le-Temple.

Students from 8th and 9th grades at Saint-Louis College and Wallon College are participating in small groups, supervised by our engineering students, in a project to create a waste-collecting robot.

Additionally, throughout the year, Icam organizes various activities for eighth-grade students from Saint-Louis Middle School: a visit to the Lieusaint campus, a presentation of educational programs, a hands-on workshop at the Fablab, and a student experience-sharing session to help them envision their future.

For students from Pierre Mendès France High School, the Grand Paris Sud site offers a conference on career guidance and engineering studies, as well as immersion days to allow them to experience life as an engineering student.

In mentoring and sharing experiences with these young people

Through these initiatives, Icam aims to inspire a passion for science among these young people, showcase the wide range of career opportunities offered by these programs, and demonstrate that anyone can access a school like Icam, which actively promotes social diversity.

This experience is also incredibly rewarding for Icam students, who value the opportunity to mentor and share their knowledge with these young learners.
