A 100% Icam kit to prevent risky behavior and sexist and sexual violence

This is the first year that preventive kits have been distributed to Icam students during their integration weekend, as well as for their prom weekend. The initiative was the brainchild of Mélina Vaurs, a 2nd year student in the Parcours ouvert program in Toulouse and member of the BdE (Bureau des Etudiants), site life, who explains that she was inspired by what she had seen at university.
It was by taking part in C’est pas une option with Paul Peycé, president of the BdE, that Mélina got the project off the ground, helped by Manon Harismendy and Juliana (Ngamarama) Ramgimakea. “We were able to identify the needs of the students and list what it could contain. We formed a small team with other students, and worked hard with Manon to put together a 100% home-made kit, suitable for the Icam,” explains Mélina. The initiative immediately appealed to the BdA (Bureau d’Accueil, organizer of the integration weekend), who gave them their support in setting it up.
The group effect and consent in comics
The tote bag distributed to students includes everything they need: earplugs, a drink watch (glass lid), condoms, lubricant and, for students on promotion weekends, a breathalyzer, as many of them come by car.
The kit also includes a leaflet produced by the students entitled “Pictorial prevention for a safe weekend”, with lots of information such as useful numbers and tips on how to make your eco-cup profitable, as well as two comic strips designed to help you make the most of your eco-cup.
