Road safety : young people from Icam’s Vendée production school take action

Ecole de Production
14 Nov 2024

A team of three students from the production school is working to prevent risky behavior among young people, particularly urban rodeos. After taking part in awareness-raising activities on November 13, they will represent France at the international finals of the VIA program for safe mobility at the end of November.

Issiaga, Sullivan and Néven are students at the Icam production school, Vendée site, based in La Roche-sur-Yon, and form the team of VIA ambassadors, an educational program for safe mobility (designed and deployed by the TotalEnergies Foundation).
All three are committed to improving the prevention of risky road-related behavior among young people. In particular, they are working to prevent urban rodeos, with a message that they want to get across: “ The road is not a racetrack, respect yourself and respect others !
Thanks to their action, their recommendations and the poster they designed on the theme of urban rodeos “Fais pas le fier, sinon belec à ta paire”, they won the national final of the VIA program and will represent France at the international finals to be held from November 22, 2024.

Raising awareness even further

The production school and its director Laurent Michonneau, who support the action of its ambassadors, have also approached the Conseil départemental and the Préfecture de Vendée to go further in raising awareness among young people.

Workshops with the three young ambassadors and a conference-debate were organized on November 13 with the Maison de la Sécurité Routière itinérante de Vendée for young people at the production school, to inform them and make them aware of the risks of the road.

Issiaga, Sullivan and Néven were also able to pass on a proposal to Alain Leboeuf, President of the Conseil départemental: to distribute their prevention poster to all secondary schools in the Vendée. The poster could then serve as a starting point for teachers to organize class debates on road safety and urban rodeos.

Congratulations and get behind Issiaga, Sullivan and Néven for the international finals !
