As part of the European project we seek to develop and optimize a heat sink for power electronics using additive manufacturing. Following a parametric numerical study, a model will be manufactured and its thermal performance will be evaluated and compared to the current system.
The main objective of the European RECET4RAIL project is to introduce new technologies in the railway sector, in order to improve the performance of the rail system from all points of view, while reducing the overall life cycle operating cost. Icam is in charge of the development of a new heat sink manufactured by additive manufacturing.
A parametric study has already been initiated on three geometries of elementary lattice structures with different operating configurations.
In this research project and as a first step, you will continue this parametric study to help choose the most efficient final design. In a second step, and after manufacturing the first experimental model by additive manufacturing, you will evaluate its thermal performance on a special experimental bench to be mounted at Icam.
