The PUCE-Icam International School of Innovation (FIIPI) hosted a dynamic event on May 31, bringing together students, faculty, and representatives from around fifteen national companies. The gathering aimed to foster dialogue and exchange while showcasing the work-study model that defines the institution. Company representatives had the opportunity to visit the campus labs and learn more about the academic program.
“Icam offers a dual-level approach: from the very first year, students engage directly with companies and develop their skills in real-world environments. This program not only gives companies a chance to meet our students but also opens the door to co-creating innovative projects,” explained Michael Maks Davis, professor at FIIPI.
Meaningful and Constructive Exchanges Between Students and Entrepreneurs
Dedicated interaction spaces allowed participants to openly discuss market challenges and explore potential collaborations. Entrepreneurs presented their organizations to the students and shared insights about current needs in their sectors.
“Events like this broaden our perspective. We can explore internship opportunities, better understand what companies expect, and reaffirm the value of our program,” said Camila, a FIIPI student. “Speaking with company leaders helps us grasp current demands. Many told us that highly technical professionals often lack communication skills. Here, we’re learning to communicate effectively, which better prepares us for the real world,” added Julian.
A Technical and Human-Centered Education that Meets Present and Future Demands
“We’ve welcomed several PUCE-Icam interns, and they’ve been remarkably successful. They adapt well to diverse professional environments. The strength of this program lies in its holistic approach. These innovative methods help us understand and align with emerging trends,” highlighted Fredy Chasiluiza, a representative from Petroecuador.
The PUCE-Icam training model is distinguished by its integration of technical, humanistic, and managerial knowledge, with a strong focus on the evolving needs of both business and society. Through these encounters, the university not only reinforces its strategic alliances but also ensures a relevant and contextualized education for its future professionals.
