The 10th Fair for the Promotion of French Studies (SAPEF) was held in Yaoundé and Douala from 10 to 14 October, with the theme “Research and Innovation at University”. The Ucac-Icam Institute was keen to be present at this event because of its intercultural nature, and in particular its strong links with France.
The official opening ceremony of the fair took place at the Institut des Relations Internationales du Cameroun – IRIC – and, at the same time, the first exhibition stands opened at the Yaoundé Hilton Hotel, with groups of students at the end of their secondary education taking part. Accompanied by their guidance counsellors, the students were won over by the engineering courses offered by the Ucac-Icam Institute, which fit in well with their future ambitions.
After a transfer to the city of Douala, the event continued at Krystal Palace, in addition to the official opening ceremony at the Institut Français du Cameroun, attended by the Consul General and the Governor of the city of Douala. This time, the stands attracted more students than pupils, most of whom were looking for a school offering a Masters course with international mobility. Many students were interested in the various engineering courses offered by the Ucac-Icam Institute, in particular the International Bachelor’s degree, which responds precisely to this desire for mobility.
The Consul General of France confirmed that the Embassy had issued more than 3,500 visas for Cameroonian students wishing to study in France by 2023. A few years ago, the number was around 1,000 visas a year.
