Context:
The school, Icam Grand Paris Sud, does not yet possess a proprietary lab for material science. However, the school has already a dedicated space and budget available allowing the procurement of specific lab equipment. One contribution from the students to this new lab is the implementation of production lines for manufacturing polymer and composite testing samples for both research and teaching purposes.
Project Description:
The school is thus looking for two engineers able to finish the implementation of those production lines and check the quality of the samples produced thanks to standard tests such as tensile, flexion and fracture. The validation of the conformity of the samples will be performed through comparison with the literature. The monitoring, or traceability, of the samples throughout the full process will ensure that stocks (of raw materials or PPI for examples) are always at the required minimum level, that the log of manufactured, tested and analysed samples id updated and that results and issues are trackable. A hot press could also be designed as a function of the project progress, such as the implementation of a fracture test for composites (DCB – Double Cantilever Beam).
The students are then expected to deliver:
- Two working production lines: moulding and infusion processes
- A monitoring system
- [bonus] The design of a hot press for the infusion line
- [bonus] The implementation of the DCB rupture test
- required skills:
-
The students are expected to have a minimum knowledge in material science, mechanics, heat transfer and IT.
