LICET in Chennai: An Innovation Marathon Serving Humanity

23 Dec 2025

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at LICET (Loyola Icam College of Engineering and Technology), in Chennai, India, organized the first BitWorks Buildathon, an innovation challenge during which students collaborated to design and deploy concrete technological solutions in fields such as AI, blockchain, social impact, healthcare, sustainability, and many others.

After an exciting Phase I bringing together 240 participants, 69 students from 2nd and 3rd year CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) were selected for Phase II, a six-day marathon. The talented teams spent six intensive days working on their projects (coding, problem-solving, etc.).

Innovation Through Practice: Three Outstanding Projects Recognized

Among 25 remarkable project presentations, three teams particularly stood out for their creativity, technical execution, and innovative solutions. The three winning projects are:

🥇 1st Place – FOXHOUND: Lingo Mancer

A fantasy role-playing game that combines immersive storytelling with language learning, transforming each quest and dialogue into a step toward mastering a new language. A playful and innovative approach to language education.

🥈 2nd Place – HUEMATE: Greyscale

A recolorization tool designed for people with color vision deficiency (color blindness), helping users improve their perception by dynamically adjusting color palettes based on their specific type of color blindness.

🥉 3rd Place – NULL POINTERS: Circulo

A platform that facilitates community borrowing of items such as tools, equipment, and essential household articles, reducing waste and enabling trust-based neighborhood sharing. A concrete solution for the circular and collaborative economy.

🏆 Congratulations to the three winning teams for their exceptional work, and to all 69 selected participants who demonstrated impressive creativity throughout this Buildathon!

Special thanks to the jury members and mentors for their time, advice, and guidance, as well as to the event coordinators, Philo Sanjay and Alfred Philomin.
