HappyAtSchool® 2025: Icam clinches 1st place!
21 Nov 2025
This is a first—and a great source of pride! Icam ranks number 1 in the HappyAtSchool® ranking in the category of engineering schools with more than 1,000 students for 2025.
2,554 Icam students (1,851 in 2024) responded to the survey, conducted from 17 January to 27 February 2025. They report a high level of fulfillment and happiness, with 85.7% positive opinions (compared to the reference group of engineering schools: 78.3%) and an excellent recommendation rate of 90%, meaning 9 out of 10 students would recommend Icam to others.
The survey, carried out by Choose My Company, gives a voice to thousands of higher-education students about their experience across five themes: educational environment & student life, teaching & pedagogy, employability, confidence in the future, and sustainable development.
Icam
In Les Echos (Special report published in Les Echos on Friday, November 21), Gilles Vandecaveye, Icam’s Director General, expressed his enthusiasm at this first place and the students’ feedback:
“ICAM is a unique school, hard to fit into boxes. That’s why hearing our students’ voices directly is so precious. What they praise first and foremost is ICAM’s mission and our way of thinking about engineering education. Also, how we see each person, not simply as a student, but as an individual with their own personality and sensitivity.”
Juline Blouin, outgoing Student Union (BDE) President in Vannes, Hilaire Laurencel, Student Union President in Lille, and Gilles Vandecaveye, Director General of Icam, had the honour of receiving the trophy on Thursday, 20 November in Paris.
A campus where it’s good to live and study
Providing a setting that fosters both personal and professional well-being is a priority at ICAM. According to the survey: 84.4% of students see the student life (rich and diverse) and the educational environment as major strengths. They highlight the quality of facilities and equipment available on campus.
A very reassuring 95.7% feel safe at school.
Almost 9 out of 10 students emphasize the culture and the educational mission of Icam, which they like and share.
A distinctive pedagogy highly appreciated by students
Icam stands out in the higher education landscape with its unique pedagogical approach: “Experiment, Review, Discern.” This teaching style is very well received, with 85.3% satisfaction. Students also appreciate the connection between theory and practice, with real problem-solving and real-world situations.
Academic staff support is also highlighted: 87.6% of students say that professors and academic mentors are available when they need them.
Icam: a responsible and committed school
Students strongly value their school’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. 9 out of 10 express satisfaction with Icam’s environmental responsibility efforts.
Equality of opportunity and diversity are also important: 81.7% say that everyone benefits from the same opportunities — admissions, pedagogy, professional paths, associations, administration, financial aid — without distinction.
Icam is also proud to note an increasing number of women engineers among its students.
Our students are confident about their professional future
Nearly 90% of students are confident about their professional future and in finding a job aligned with their aspirations, skills, and values. They also feel that Icam gives them access to an attractive professional ecosystem (companies, organizations, etc.) — 90.4% agree.
Strengthening this is Icam’s close relationship with industry: it has 83 partner companies, thanks in part to its “Grands Partenaires” and the new “ICAM Pulse” offer.
Moreover, 92% of students agree that Icam’s diploma is recognized by employers, a major asset for employability.
