Some solvolysis exploratory trials about the recycling of electronic boards were performed at Icam. The resin was degraded but the metals remained welded in spite of temperatures higher than the melting temperatures. Some previous works done at ECP with organic solvents were able to separate the components from the board, but in conditions which will, likely, be difficult to industrialize.
Subject:
Find a solvolysis based process allowing an efficient recycling of the different components of an electronic board, at least, the metals.
Work:
After a bibliographical update, including some previous unpublished works done at Icam, a research of new ideas will be done. Among them, some ideas will be chosen for further development. Design and set up of new experiments will be done to find out the more efficient method. The obtained results will be justified using models.
An economical evaluation of the process might be done, depending on the technical results.
