Festi, the Icam Theatre Festival, celebrates its 40th anniversary !
Icam
27 Mar 2025
From March 27 to April 5, 2025, Festi, organized by the Fest’Icam association, returns for a special anniversary edition—more captivating than ever—driven by the same goal for 40 years : making theatre accessible to all through high-quality performances.
Nearly 800 spectators are expected for the 40th Festi Icam, a key event in Lille’s student and cultural life ! This fully amateur festival is led by a team of about ten Icam engineering students who have worked tirelessly to bring this 40th edition to life across the Lille metropolitan area.
Over the past seven months, through workshops, rehearsals, and various events throughout the year, all Festi members—the hundred actors and a dozen directors—have prepared relentlessly to offer high-quality theatre productions.

Making culture accessible to all
This anniversary is an opportunity to remember that Festi Icam was founded in 1985 by two students, including Icam student Daniel Tragus. Over the years, it has evolved from a single theatre evening into a multi-week festival. Initially composed solely of student troupes, the festival has gradually opened up to performers of all ages and backgrounds.
However, Festi’s core ambition remains unchanged after 40 years : making culture accessible to all by offering high-quality theatre productions at affordable prices.
At Icam, we recognize the importance of theatre as a space for creativity, expression, and collaboration. The Icam Troupe on our Lille campus is open to all students, from all academic years. Theatre teaches us listening, empathy, and teamwork—values that are fully integrated into our engineering education.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who brings stories to life, both on stage and in our projects !
