The Howmet production site in Roques-sur-Garonne recently opened its doors for an exceptional visit, welcoming first-year students in machining and metalworking. This visit was organized with Isabelle Pichard, Eric Milhau, and Anne Gallois, aiming to provide an immersive and professional experience to future industry professionals.
Guided by the site’s HR manager and led by a quality engineer and a method engineer, this visit allowed students to gain detailed insights into the entire production process. They closely observed aerospace parts, advanced machining techniques, and materials used, such as titanium and Inconel.
The interactions between the young students and the production technicians and operators were numerous and enriching. These exchanges offered students a concrete perspective on their future careers, particularly in operator positions in turning and milling. They were able to ask questions and receive direct answers about the realities of the profession.
The visit fully achieved its objectives, allowing students to explore an industrial production site in a detailed and realistic manner. It also strengthened the link between machining training and the professional world, while helping to promote machining careers, a field where Howmet faces significant recruitment challenges.
Howmet Foundation, the largest benefactor of production school for years, continues to play a key role in supporting education and vocational training. This visit is just one example of how the company helps to forge valuable human and professional connections between the educational and industrial worlds.
In summary, this visit to the Howmet production site in Roques-sur-Garonne was an extremely beneficial experience for the students, offering them a clear and inspiring vision of their future careers. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industrial companies to prepare young people for the jobs of tomorrow.
