Spending three months on an island in Nicaragua to contribute to sea turtle conservation, Vanina Barahona-Undurraga, a student at Icam Strasbourg-Europe, has been featured in several media outlets. These reports also highlighted the mobile application she developed for collecting data on nests and biodiversity.
For her second-year internship as part of the Industrial Digital Systems Engineering program, Vanina chose to go to Isla los Brasiles, a small island near Léon in Nicaragua. During her three-month stay, she worked with the social enterprise Sos Nicaragua to protect sea turtles, and developed a mobile application dedicated to managing data related to sea turtles—a first in Central America.
