Teams from five Icam campuses in France and around the world took part in the inter-campus Fablab challenge from March 21 to April 11.

The aim of the challenge was to build a machine or system for transforming plastic bottles into filaments for our 3D printers, a subject that intrigues many and has great potential, explains Rémy Ducros, Fablab Manager at Icam.
Learning, trying, creating and sharing were the key words of this interfablab challenge. ” The idea is to get students to go even further, to stimulate motivation, to create inter-campus links, but also to create a framework in which we can more easily guide and support them in bringing a project to fruition “, continues Rémy Ducros.

For the first time, five campuses volunteered to take part: the Icam sites in Strasbourg-Europe, Grand Paris Sud, Vendée, Recife (Brazil) and Manila (Philippines).
All the participating campuses managed to make a simple machine and filament for the 3D printer from these plastic bottles in 2 hours of workshop ! ” emphasizes Rémy Ducros.

The aim was also to create emulation and connect fablab users from different Icam campuses : a successful gamble! Despite the end of the challenge, they continue to keep in touch via chat and share their progress. Anyone at Icam interested in joining the group and/or organizing a workshop can contact Rémy Ducros.
