IQS Master in Industrial Engineering / Icam’s Master in General Engineering

Overview

IQS Master in Industrial Engineering / Icam’s Master in General Engineering

Program at a glance

Students following the dual degree program between Icam and Instituto Químico de Sarrià (IQS) will have the generalist engineering foundations while having thorough knowledge in Industrial Engineering.

Icam’s 2-year Master’s in General Engineering will ensure a holistic formation: you will acquire management and humanities exposure, while expanding your training to the multidisciplinary engineering domains. These skills will then be applied when you carry out research work for your Master’s Thesis, followed by hands-on experience as an intern with one of our French partner companies (although you can choose to do your internship in France, Spain or any other country).

Why choose this program?

The General Engineering Master’s degree creates engineers ideal for either becoming self-proclaimed entrepreneurs or valuable leaders or players within a company.

Candidates with a dual degree in general engineering have increased operational skills. The generalist engineering training develops open-mindedness, adaptability, and critical thinking. These profiles are able to piece together different elements of a puzzle while having a bird’s eye-view of real-life situations. Used to complexity and different industries, generalist engineers can easily work in different industries and are able to reorient themselves and their careers to various environments.

This program further builds upon Icam and IQS’ shared culture and vision:

  • IQS and Icam share common values and desire to holistically train engineers who are in the service of the common good;
  • The proposed curriculum offers the IQS student a year of discernment regarding the pursuit of the dual degree (the first year of Erasmus exchange allows to validate the Grado)
  • The engineering internship at Icam serves as your springboard to an international career.

Program highlights

  • The first year of exchange offers a choice of options and a professional semester in connection with the industrial world:
    • First Icam semester with
      • additional scientific knowledge and skills in the multidisciplinary engineering domains
      • a business creation project
    • Second semester with concentration areas based on your specialization preference
  • The second year of exchange serves as a springboard to your active engineering life:
    • Third semester devoted to the Master’s level Thesis
    • Fourth semester immersed in a company via an internship either in Spain or France (or any other country)

Location

The first year can be carried out among the 4 Icam campuses (Lille, Paris-Sénart, Toulouse, Nantes), with the possibility to change from one campus to another depending on the concentration area you prefer to take for your second semester.

You can then continue your studies on the 2nd year in on of the 6 Icam campuses (Bretagne, Lille, Paris-Sénart, Toulouse, Nantes, Vendée).

Language

You can start your Dual Degree program with a semester in English (in Icam Toulouse), or in French. You can continue your studies in French and move to another campus based on the concentration areas or research topic that you choose to work on, after the first semester.

Program structure
  • You will be acquiring and validating fundamental skills in industrial engineering during your first three years at IQS. Your fourth year will be spent at Icam where you will open up to other areas of expertise in the field of engineering. You take the majority of courses with Icam students, with the program being adapted so that you can carry out your TFG project and thus validate your Grado level.
  • At the end of the fourth year, you already get your degree in Industrial Engineering. To continue towards the dual degree, you then return to the IQS to follow the first three semesters of the Máster en Ingeniería Industrial (Masters in Industrial Engineering).
  • Finally, you return to Icam to complete your curriculum with a year of professionalization that includes a 5-month scientific dissertation and a 5-month immersion in a company.
