Research at the Greater Paris South Campus
At the Icam Grand Paris Sud campus, research activities are driven by a multidisciplinary team of faculty-researchers specializing in diverse fields such as materials science, mechanics, robotics, logistics, the humanities, automation, and computer science. This complementary expertise fosters applied research that directly addresses current industrial, technological, and societal challenges.
The campus’s scientific activities are organized around three key themes: energy production, storage, and management; innovative structures and materials; and the societal and technological transition of companies. This work leads to concrete applications across several sectors, notably Industry 4.0, sports and health, automotive, energy, robotics, and the ecological transition.
This dynamic is further supported by the LiFe and CarMa platforms, which serve as hubs for experimentation, innovation, and training. Scientific activities are coordinated at both the local and Icam Group levels, involving a team of 12 faculty-researchers, 5 doctoral students, and an active network of industrial and academic partners.
The Grand Paris Sud campus in a few words
A modern engineering school in Île-de-France
The Grand Paris Sud engineering school is a state-of-the-art campus with minimalist architecture. The buildings allow future engineers to work in ideal conditions. The bright and spacious facilities include, in particular:
A FabLab, a workshop providing learners and the public with computer-aided manufacturing tools (3D printers, laser cutters, digital embroidery machines, etc.)
Two research platforms: the LIFE platform (Logistics and Industry of the Future for Ecological Transition) and the CarMa platform (Materials Characterization)
New practical work rooms,
Project rooms for working throughout the day, including open access in the evening.
A family atmosphere
Since its inception, the school has maintained small class sizes (no more than 50 students per class), fostering a family atmosphere. These class sizes allow for the development of a fraternal and intergenerational bond among the students, who all get to know each other through their shared daily life in the community.
The creation and organization of sporting and festive events throughout the year also contributes to the empowerment and development of each and every individual.
A pleasant campus
Outside of working hours, students benefit from a high quality of life thanks to on-site accommodation in a peaceful environment, as well as a wide range of student associations. The Icam Grand Paris Sud campus is located in a rapidly developing metropolitan area: both a green space and a major cultural and commercial hub.
Research work
In collaboration with universities in the area, the Icam Grand Paris Sud campus conducts research along three main lines. Icam students have the opportunity to explore these themes at the end of their studies through thematic modules:
Logistics and Industry of the Future
Sustainable Buildings & Urban Areas – Towards Sobriety
Sport and Health
An integrated production workshop
The Icam production school, Grand Paris Sud site, offers two CAPs: a machinist training course and an electrician training course for young people aged 15 to 18.
