Around seventy researchers, naval architects and engineers from all over the world came together on 9 and 10 September at the Icam site in Nantes to present the latest results of their research. The selected papers presented at the conference have undergone a full peer review process and have been published in the proceedings by Taylor & Francis.

ICCGS aims to present the most advanced methods for the analysis and design of ship collisions and groundings, ship-iceberg collisions, offshore structures, bridges, submerged tunnels and shoreline structures.

Previous conferences have been held in San Francisco, USA in 1996; Copenhagen, Denmark in 2001; Tokyo, Japan in 2004; Hamburg, Germany in 2007; Helsinki, Finland in 2010; Trondheim, Norway in 2013; Ulsan, South Korea in 2016; and Lisbon, Portugal in 2019.

Internally, the event was organised by Hervé Le Sourne and Ye Pyae Sone Oo, researchers at Icam working on these themes, in conjunction with GEM, their home laboratory. GEM is the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of Nantes University, Centrale Nantes and the CNRS.

In addition to scientific exchanges, the event provided an opportunity for researchers working on the same topics around the world to meet and get to know each other better.
