Research at the Toulouse Campus
Main research at Toulouse campus is organized around three key technology platforms: DepTH-LAB, Star2AM-LAB, and Chess-LAB, which provide unique and competitive research resources:
- DepTH-LAB focuses on thermal management in electronics operating at the interface of Wide Bandgap (WBG) semiconductor packaging and advanced thermal control technologies. It is dedicated to measuring temperatures at critical points of components/modules/PCB and evaluating the performance of next-generation cooling technologies.
- STAR²-AM, Structural Testing and mAterials chaRacteRisation & Additive Manufacturing, is dedicated to studying and characterising the mechanical behaviour of structures and materials.
- Chess-LAB is dedicated to researching microgrids and smart electrical networks. With its two experimental benches (one real hybrid and one RCP/HIL rapid prototyping), it facilitates the testing, validation, and optimization of groundbreaking energy architectures for future power grids.
It also features activities focusing on human-computer and robot interactions, integrating user-centered designed technologies, and considering ergonomics, as well as ethics and social impact. Additionally, it covers themes related to the societal acceptability of Artificial Intelligence and insights into Human Relations and Interpersonal Interaction.
The Toulouse campus in a few words
Diversity of career paths
Numerous training programs are offered: preparatory classes for vocational and scientific studies , international Bachelor’s degrees , engineering apprenticeships , engineering degrees under student status , and continuing education . The production school in Toulouse trains students for careers as machinists and boilermakers .
A humane and supportive educational model
Icam adopts a “learning by doing” approach: concrete projects, practical workshops, and a pedagogy focused on personalized support . It promotes the integration of young people with atypical backgrounds and champions equal opportunities within a family atmosphere conducive to personal development.
A modern setting and attractive facilities
The 12,000 m² campus offers infrastructure adapted to quality training: a residence with 300 beds, a large fablab, equipped testing and integration rooms, a comfortable coworking space, an operational production workshop, as well as fully equipped classrooms and lecture halls.
Research and innovation for a sustainable future
The campus conducts recognized applied research projects, notably with LAAS-CNRS and IRT Saint Exupéry. These initiatives are part of a process of technological progress and sustainable development.
An international and environmental openness
Awarded the “Bienvenue en France” (Welcome to France) level 2 label in January 2025, the campus welcomes students from all over the world in an intercultural environment. Specific support, characterized by a welcoming atmosphere and integration into campus life, ensures optimal integration.
