The Pluvigner site
Before becoming one of the largest industries in Morbihan, Hillrom was a family business, created by Eugène LE COUVIOUR in 1946 in Bieuzy-Lanvaux. Its speciality? Bed bases and mattresses. In 1965, as the company developed towards the hospital market, it had 130 employees. The first production unit was set up in Pluvigner in 1972. But the company experienced difficulties and was forced to file for bankruptcy in 1980 before experiencing a new boom. In 1991, the company employed 850 people when Eugène LE COUVIOUR sold it to the American group Hillrom. But it is in 1996 that the transfer of power is really effective.
Today the Pluvigner site is not only a production site, it is an international center of excellence. Their objective is to become the world reference in the medical industry sector as well as a major economic, environmental and societal player. No less than 400 people work there, 36,000 medical beds, 36,000 therapeutic surfaces and 40,000 hospital room furniture are produced each year on the 110,000 m² industrial site. All delivered to more than 100 countries in the main regions of the world: Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Since 2018, Hillrom France has been certified as the “Best Company to Work For” by Great Place to Work® and certified Gold Level in terms of CSR by EcoVadis.
