Nanotechnology and nanoscale manufacturing (nanofabrication) are very promising technologies with multiple applications (energy, environment, construction, food, medicine, etc.). However, they are the subject of health, environmental and ethical concerns. The European H2020 NanoFabNet project aims to promote the take-off of nanofabrication on a European scale in a sustainable and responsible manner, by creating an international network guaranteeing a high level of certification in the various fields of nanofabrication (technical aspects and societal aspects). ICAM is responsible in it of a large section on “Global sustainability”, covering issues of health and environmental risks, life cycle analysis, ethics and governance.
The recruited MSR students will be responsible for assisting in the creation of the international NanoFabNet Hub, within the framework of ICAM’s tasks for this project. They will in particular be mobilized: a) in the provision, on the network’s website, of an updated bibliography (scientific articles, theses, books, etc.) on the various aspects of the sustainability of nanofabrication; b) in setting up the network database, recording partner organizations, research infrastructures, ongoing projects, etc. ; c) in carrying out a survey of partner organizations on their practices and needs in terms of overall sustainability (risk analyzes, life cycle analyzes, ethical analyzes concerning their productions in terms of nanoproducts and nanomaterials, etc.) ; in defining the network development strategy with regard to the European and international nanofabrication landscape.
Different deliverables are expected (formatted bibliography, updated database, survey results, report on added value to strategy, etc.)
